The Divine Nine No More? Jessica Leaves Girl’s Generation!

It has been confirmed today that Jessica Jung has left / been removed from K-pop supergroup Girls Generation / SNSD. Their management company SM Entertainment has released an official statement, with the key quote being

From here on, our agency will continue to support and manage the 8-member Girls’ Generation and Jessica’s individual activities.

After almost a decade, SNSD have been the golden poster girls of the K-pop industry and their SM Ent. It is a sad day indeed, and many of the popular K-pop gossip blogs are crashing under the load of frenzied SONES looking for updates on their beloved girls.

The silver lining to all of this news is that Jessica seems to still be with the company, and may have future promotions on her own. She already has a busy future with her fashion company and was also planning on studying in the USA so we may not hear from her in quite some time.

In any event, even if she wasn’t my bias in the group, she will be missed by many in the fan community.
